BELL - Nautical - Antique 9½"x 9½" Cast Brass - Steel Clapper with Pull Lanyard - Price: $300 in Cardiff, Alabama

Refurbished Cast Brass Bell  weighing eighteen pounds. Based on the design and casting quality this bell was likely made during the late xxxx's. Most bells of this type were used on sea going vessels, but it is possible that it could have been used for some other purpose. The cast brass hole (used for hanging) shows a lot of wear, which indicates the bell  had been swinging for an extended period. Also, the steel clapper hanging mount must have worn through and has been replaced. Included are the original  9"cast iron clapper and a large sailor?s braided hemp pull lanyard. This bell surface is not the typical smooth surface and also shows years of exposure to the weather. This bell has a loud, clear, and long lasting tone due to its unusually thick casting.     Note: A wall mounted hanging bracket is not included.
